Gary Eugene Regentin, age 77, of Commerce Township, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021, at his home. Gary was born November 7, 1944, in Valparaiso, Florida, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Gilbert and Arlene (Rathbun) Regentin. While he was working at the Little Brown Jug Restaurant, Gary was introduced to Cheryl Griffith, and it was love at first sight! Gary and Cheryl started dating, fell in love, and were married on July 18, 1975, in St. Clair Shores, sharing forty-six wonderful years together. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Although he was never deployed overseas, he spent his military career travelling throughout the U.S. Upon his honorable discharge, Gary began his career as a salesman; working all over the state of Michigan for many years until his retirement in the early 2000’s.
In his free time, Gary could always be found outdoors. He loved working in his garden, going hunting and fishing, and especially going out on his boat on Long Lake. Gary enjoyed watching sports; and especially loved to watch his children play over the years. He also had a great love for his dog, Josie. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Regentin; and his sister, Sherry Ziehm.
In accordance with Gary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the Uptown Grille, 3100 E. West Maple Road, Commerce Township, Michigan 48390.
