Gerald Lee “Jerry” Morenz passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by his loving family. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing this is not goodbye. It is “see you soon.”
Jerry was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. He lived with kindness, humility, integrity, and strong faith. His gentle spirit made others feel welcome, and his quiet strength and compassion left a lasting impact. He made friends wherever he went, even in the hospital, often asking for a photo.
Jerry proudly served three years in the United States Army. He later dedicated 35 years and 10 months to the Oakland County Road Commission, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to safety. During his career, he was honored with a Safe Driver Award, a reflection of the care and pride he took in his work and serving his community.
Jerry was an active member of New Hope Christian Fellowship, where he faithfully served as a greeter. He loved welcoming others with a warm smile and a kind word, making everyone who walked through the doors feel seen, valued, and at home.
Above all, Jerry loved his family. He was always there to help, encourage, and support. He cherished time with those he loved and enjoyed camping, cars, and making lasting memories together.
Jerry’s faith guided his life and gave him peace. Even in his final days, he showed courage, grace, and trust in God. His legacy is one of faith, love, and service.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Marie Morenz; his children, Michael (Sumer) Morenz and Marlena (David) Kerwin; and his seven grandchildren: Sayge (24), Judah (22), Reece (20), True (19), Levi (17), Wesley (15), and Macie (12). He also leaves behind extended family and many dear friends.
Jerry was welcomed into Heaven by those who went before him, now whole and at peace.
Though deeply missed, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and look forward to being reunited with him.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held
In honor of Jerry’s love for his country and service in the Army, the immediate family will wear red, white, and blue. Friends and loved ones are invited to join in wearing these colors as we celebrate his life.
