

Jacqueline Gascoigne Galbraith, age 88, of Orchard Lake; passed away peacefully on August 2, 2011. Jacqueline Gascoigne Galbraith was born in Royal Oak, MI, the daughter of a Presbyterian minister; she grew up in many different places, South Bend, IN, and Jamestown ND, to name a few. She started her teaching career in Illinois and soon moved to East Lansing to teach were she met her husband Doug. They soon moved to Royal Oak, MI, and then to Pontiac, where Doug worked for GM Truck and Coach. It was that connection that brought them to her beloved Westacres where they raised their six children. Taking a break from teaching to raise her kids, she soon resumed her career in the Waterford School system teaching the 3rd and 4th grade at Donaldson Elementary. Her legacy of teaching lives in the students she inspired. Retirement was good to them, where they spent their summers traveling and enjoying their summer home in Bellaire, MI “Brigadoon”. Beloved wife of the late Douglas M. Galbraith, dear mother of Scott (Char) Galbraith, the late Douglas Galbraith, Jr., Shannon (Curtis) Paul, Duncan (Sue) Galbraith, Meghan (James) Galbraith-Crowe, Kyle (Scott) Staulter; proud grandmother of Lea (Doug) Davenport, Amy (James Bland) Hoffa, Ian (Lissa) Galbraith, Lindsey (Nathan Nasuta) Galbraith, Ryan (Kiersten) Paul, Abigail Paul, Kevin Eastin and his partner Teresa, Brian Eastin, MacKaela Galbraith, Kailey Crowe, Kevin Alexander Crowe, Mailen Stauter, great-grandmother of Jackson, Charlotte “Charlie”, Sebastian, Carter; sister of the late Jerome Webber. The visitation hours will be Thursday, August 4, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake. Private family interment will be Friday. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on August 27, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Orchard Lake Community Church Presbyterian, 5171 Commerce Road, Orchard Lake. Memorial contributions to Orchard Lake Community Church Presbyterian Youth Ministries or Westacre Historical Fund; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
