Beloved husband of Gloria for 55 years. Loving father of Colleen (Raymond) Topper. Treasured grandfather of Jeffrey and Catherine Topper. Brother and Brother-in-law of Danny (Roberta) McLaughlin, Scott (Susan) Brooks, Sharlene (Tom) Griffith, Mary Clark and Judy (Dave) Long. Also survived by three nieces and four nephews.
Mr. McLaughlin is preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Ann McLaughlin, parents, Daniel and Mildred McLaughlin, one sister, Patricia Ann Yeitter, his father and mother-in-law, Meryl and Harriet Marie Brooks along with his best friend and Air Force buddy, Raymond Bailor.
Jim was an Air Force Veteran who proudly served his country. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge, a past grand guardian of the Job's daughters and a band member of the Elf Khurafeh Shriners. He was a member of Seymour Lake United Methodist Church, the Commandry, the National Campers and Hikers Association and the Great Lakes Newfoundland Dog Club. He graduated from Addison High School 1957. Grew up in Manitou Beach, Michigan. Owned and operated MC Molds in Okemos, Michigan and retired from Focus Hope in Detroit, Michigan. Jim raised and showed Newfoundland dogs, enjoyed making pancakes, hunting and spending time with family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday October 27, 2018 at Commerce United Methodist Church, 1155 N. Commerce Road in Commerce Township. The family will receive friends at church from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. A memorial luncheon will follow the memorial service.
