James LeRoy Patterson

James LeRoy Patterson, age 81, of Waterford, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Anna; his two children: Sherry (Craig) MacDonald, and Michael (Catherine) Patterson; his five beloved grandchildren: Aaron (Danya), Benjamin, Peyton, Lucas, and Cayla; and “daughters of his heart”: Donielle Fidler and Ashley Amburgy.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Estella (Sonnenburg) Maxon; and his sister, Sharon Metevia.

Jim was born June 8, 1942, in Pontiac, the son of Estella Sonnenburg. Jim was introduced to the love of his life, Anna Conn, when she came to his place of work seeking care for an injured cat. Jim and Anna began dating, fell in love, and were eventually married on May 6, 1969, sharing nearly fifty-five wonderful years together. Jim devoted his professional life to a successful career in large machinery maintenance. Most recently, Jim retired from Nishinbo in 2006. In his free time, Jim greatly enjoyed volunteering at the Waterford Senior Center, and felt grateful for the many friendships he made there. Jim loved spending time with his family and friends whenever possible, and always enjoyed a good old Western film. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed.

In accordance with Jim’s wishes, cremation will take place. A casual gathering celebrating Jim is planned for Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 2:00pm until 4 pm at the Waterford Senior Center, located at 3621 Pontiac Lake Rd, Waterford, Michigan 48328. All are welcome to attend.
