Jean Elizabeth Moran

A proud native New Yorker, Jean was raised in Brooklyn and would go on to live and attend high school in St. Albans (Queens), where she met Thomas D. Moran, her beloved ‘Tommy’, whom she would marry in 1956, a marriage that lasted almost 63 years.

Jean and Tom ventured out to Long Island to raise a family in Massapequa before Tom’s career brought him to Michigan in 1978, where they spent eight years building a life in Grosse Pointe before moving to Bloomfield Hills in 1986. In 2003, they traded the snow for warmer weather in South Carolina, where they lived for 13 years before returning to Michigan in 2016.

Aside from being a dedicated mother of four, Jean's work included time as an Office Manager at Town and Country Dental Studios in Freeport, New York, and later at Saroki Architecture in Birmingham, Michigan.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose friendly, outgoing personality and kind, caring heart made her a source of comfort to those around her.

She loved to read, knit, and play games with her friends, especially dominoes. As a daughter of the American Revolution, she spent countless hours researching her family's history, tracing it back to 1627, and kept a detailed photo history close to her heart.

After Tom’s passing and the loss of many dear friends, Jean was blessed with friendships that helped her through difficult times. Her friends on High Point Trail, as well as her many wonderful friends at West Lake Villas, brought joy into her life every day until her passing.

Her generosity and devotion to her family and friends created lasting bonds that will be deeply missed.

Jean is survived by her children, Timothy Moran, Elizabeth Moran, and John Moran and his wife, Sharon Moran; her nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Thomas D. Moran; her parents, Joseph and Mildred Tripi; and her brother, J. Gerald Tripi.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 11, at St. Patrick Catholic Parish in White Lake, Michigan, and family and friends are invited to celebrate her life—visitation begins at 10 a.m., with a service at 11 a.m.

In place of flowers, donations may be made in Jean's memory to the American Cancer Society, in recognition of her journey as a breast cancer survivor. Donations may also be made in honor of her late husband, Thomas D. Moran, to the Blood Cancer Foundation of Michigan. These contributions help continue her legacy of caring and advocacy for health causes close to her heart, allowing her spirit to live on through acts of kindness and support.
