Jean loved everyone. Every person she met became a friend. She was the first one to strike up a conversation, and she made sure you laughed and had a smile on your face before the conversation was over. She had a unique sense of humor and a bright smile. Jean always made time to chat with people, to support them on their endeavors and to help with their struggles. She cherished these conversations!
Jean passionately loved her family and friends. She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never shied away from telling stories about their latest adventures. Family picnics in her backyard on Sodus Bay were some of her favorite times. Getting the extended family together, in that breathtaking location, were events that enriched everyone's lives and were the highlight of many summer seasons for her.
Jean had many friends, and she considered them family. She loved Sodus Point with a passion and loved her home on Sodus Bay. She served her community as Village Court Clerk while her husband served as Judge. They also ran a fishing shop out of their home. They could have someone at the door at 5 am needing a fishing license or a police officer at 1am needing a judge for an arraignment. Her door was always open. She also served her community as Village Clerk and Girl Scout leader. In turn, her Sodus Point family helped her maintain her residence there for years. They were invaluable to her both physically and emotionally.
When the time came to leave her lifelong home, she discovered a new world of joy at Independence Village in White Lake Michigan. Jean thrived in that community and obtained a whole new family of residents and staff. She looked forward to the crafts and the fun activities that were around every corner. She also loved hosting chats with staff in her beloved apartment.
Jean’s loving spirit will be greatly missed by many. Her impact on others will hopefully live on forever.
Per her wishes, a private cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions suggested to the Sodus Point Fire Department or Helping Hounds Dog Rescue in New York.
