Jeffrey Fagan, age 65 of Commerce Twp., Michigan, passed away on September 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Jeff was a thoughtful, intelligent, kindhearted and compassionate man. He had a deep love of learning and could often be found reading about current events, physics and the environment. He was always eager to understand more about the universe, our earth and problems that might be solved through science.
As a teacher for Oakland Schools Technical Campus, he shared this passion for learning with his many students. He shared it at home as well. He frequently tutored his daughters and their friends in math and science, as well as anyone else who would listen. Jeff dedicated his life to helping others learn and build confidence.
Outside of the classroom, Jeff had many passions. He was an avid snow and water skier, often seen gatekeeping for his daughter's downhill ski meets. In addition, he loved golfing and fishing. Music was high on Jeff's list of favorite activities, in particular grunge and alternative, with Nirvana being high on his list of favorites.
Above all Jeff was a family man. He dearly loved and devoted himself to his daughters. He tirelessly painted, sanded, built walls, and nailed in floors to make the family home comfortable and safe. He took care of the people he loved both before and after he became ill.
Before his illness, he was always willing to tear down a deck or kitchen, fix a car or remind you to get an oil change. Afterwards, he provided emotional support by uplifting his wife and daughters, always demonstrating resilience and strength during his own challenges. His illness changed his abilities, but it did not change who he was.
Jeff enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, as well. A good glass of wine or beer, conversation, word searches, and dark chocolate. Jeff was no stranger to enjoying friends and life experiences.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 37 years, Heather, and his daughters Emma and Rachel; his twin sister, Janice and her husband Joe; his older sister, Colleen; his mother and father in-law, Jim and Dottie Macintyre; and sister in-law, Laura and her husband Todd. They are all grateful to have known him, and life will not be the same in his absence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vonnie and George Fagan and his brother, Tim.
A private graveside service was held at the Preserve at All Saints Cemetery.
Anyone is welcome to make donations to the National Brain Tumor Society, the Glioblastoma Foundation, or ENCORE Adult Day Services in Waterford in Jeff's honor.
