

John is survived by his loving partner of 34 years, Lee Habowski; his siblings, Richard (Kathleen) Bauer, Anne (Jim) Kleinbauer, Thomas (Marilee) Bauer, and James Bauer; and his nieces and nephews, Barbara Ann Cooperider, Debbie Rose, David Bauer, Richard P. Bauer, Helene Hale, Adam Kline, Jenny Bell, and Shawn Bauer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marcelle Bauer, and his brother, Robert Bauer.
John was a proud Air Force veteran and remained deeply devoted to serving and supporting his fellow veterans throughout his life. He was also a generous philanthropist with a fantastic character and a genuine concern for others. John was known for his witty comebacks, wonderful sense of humor, and great smile. His generosity and warm personality touched the lives of many.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially the time spent pursuing these passions alongside his brother Richard. An avid walker, John even earned the affectionate nickname “Johnny Walker.” He also enjoyed gardening and, above all, cherished his family and the time he shared with those he loved.
John will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Center in John’s honor.
