John served in the United States Navy. He retired from General Motors. He was a member of St. Regis Catholic Church in Bloomfield Hills for many years. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed golf and liked to read.
He is survived by his children: Deborah Elliott, Jack (Aileen) Burke, Patrick (Christine) Burke and Michael (Leandra) Burke; seven grandchildren, one great grandson and his brother Edwin (April) Burke. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mari.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday October 25, 2025 at St. Regis Catholic Church, located at 3695 Lincoln Rd., Bloomfield Hills, Michigan 48301. Mr. Burke will lie in state at the church from 10:30 am until the time of service.
Interment will be at Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
