

Born on November 21, 1937, in Highland Park, Michigan, John was the son of John and Helen Ross. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness and outgoing personality touched the lives of many.
John is survived by his children, Michael (Christina) Ross, Jennifer (Joseph) Ross, John (Xin "Cindy") Ross, Polly (Richard) Schwartz, and Susan (Todd) Lang; his beloved grandchildren, Kyle, Kenzie, Sabrina, Jack, Sage, Paden, Esme, and Desmond; his sister, Joanne (Bill) Muller; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sara Ross; his parents, John and Helen Ross; and his sisters, Patricia Winter and Lorraine (Jerry) Saad.
John was known for his warm personality and genuine ability to connect with others. He was an ambitious man who embraced new opportunities throughout his life, including founding his own real estate company, Bankers Realty. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for three years, and his generosity of spirit led him to volunteer with many organizations including Meals on Wheels and the Special Olympics.
In his younger years, John enjoyed playing tennis and valued the many friendships he made through his tennis club. His love of sports continued throughout his life as he cheered on his favorite teams and proudly attended his children's sporting events. He also had a lifelong love for animals, and in his later years enjoyed a special bond with his beloved cat, Marley.
John's greatest joy was spending time with his family. Summers in Harbor Springs and on Mackinac Island with his children were among his most treasured memories. He also cherished the love he shared with Sara, whom he met in high school through his sister, Joanne.
John will be remembered for his kindness, determination, and unwavering love for his family.
In honor of his military service, John will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the World Wildlife Fund.
