Julia B. Williams could be described as kind and loving but also a woman who knew what she wanted and did things her own way for the past 78 years of her life. Julia passed away on February 14, 2023. Born to Lawrence and Lillian Brooks in Niagara Falls, New York on April 7, 1944. She was the daughter of a successful businessman who owned several bakeries throughout the Niagara Falls region. Julia had many great stories about growing up in Niagara Falls including being chauffeured to school by her father’s driver who was a colorful character.
She met her future husband Kent in High School when he asked her to a dance. They were married and moved to Michigan residing in Bloomfield Hills and currently in Metamora, Michigan. Julia and Kent have been married for 58 years. Together they had one son Keith (Nicole) Williams of West Palm Beach Florida. Julia was always very proud to celebrate Keith’s achievements over the years. Her love of landscaping no doubt influenced his career. She was also extremely happy to welcome Nicole into her life as her new daughter-in law.
Julia spent a great deal of time outside working in her flower beds and meadows on her property. She had an eye for detail and it shown through in the many trees, bushes, grasses, flowers and bulbs that she planted on their woodland oasis.
Julia had great taste, from the 18th century art she selected to hang in her home, to the stylish outfits and jewelry she was known for wearing. She was always very generous with her time as well. If she knew you were interested in something she would go out of her way to introduce you to her passions and share her knowledge.
Julia and Kent were involved in the Motor City Fox Terrier Group. She and Kent opened their property to host AKC Earth Dog competitions for many years. She enjoyed showing dogs and produced several champion terriers. Her dog Tootie went on to become a grand champion. Louie is her current wire fox terrier and was the love of her life.
Julia was master gardener and involved in a local garden club. She was retired from Genesee County Social Services where she was a manager.
She is survived by her loving husband Kent; son Keith and Nicole Williams; her grandchildren Maxwell, Logan and Colette.
