Kenneth James Janssen, 61, of West Bloomfield (formerly of Norway) passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 5, 2011. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol of 41 years, son Jason Thomas 32, daughter Kadi Marie 25, Eli Prout 27 (Kadi’s fiancé), brother in law Jack Kuehl (Joan) as well as many brothers and sisters in law on the Nepper side, and many special nieces and nephews. Ken was a 1968 graduate of Norway High School. He attended Michigan State where he earned a Masters of Social Work in 1974. He was employed by the State of Michigan for over 30 years as a Psychiatric Social Worker, most recently at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Ypsilanti.
Ken was very family oriented and loved spending time with his family most of all. They recently vacationed together at Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland where the family enjoyed time boating, jet skiing, hiking, and relaxing together. He did many creative projects on the house, was a very handy man and extremely hard worker. Ken loved hunting in the woods of Northern Michigan and fishing for walleye on the Great Lakes. He loved telling stories about his many adventures in the woods and on the lakes, and always had an infectious laugh while telling them. Ken was a lifelong Lions fan, always cheered on the Spartan teams in basketball and football, and loved to watch a Nascar race.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Angeline and Louis Janssen, and brothers Edward (Marci), Donald, and sister Joan.
