

Beloved wife of the late Don. Loving mother of Belinda (Dana) Swaney and Donnie (Leslie) Farmer, II. Proud grandmother of Lena (Robert) Chizek, Seth (Janelle) Farmer, Benjamin Farmer, Cameron Swaney and Autumn Swaney. Treasured great-grandmother of Malachi, Luna, Isaiah, Amelia, Merritt and Alaythia. Sister of Doil Humphrey, Emmitt Humphrey, Dorothy Sue (Kurron) Turner and Audrey Tyler. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Sadly, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Claudine Perkins, Williemae Kimberlin, Festus Humphrey, Tom Humphrey and Bobbie Jean Fountain.
Lena, known to her friends as Ruth graduated from Dyess High School in 1963. She married her high school sweetheart, Don Farmer on May 26, 1963 and they spent many loving years together until his death on July 18, 2016. She was a longtime member of Oxbow Lake Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was very involved in the children's ministries, Junior Camp, Vacation Bible School and the 5 Day Club which she hosted in her backyard. She loved to travel, especially to visit her family in Arkansas. She had an infinity for lighthouses and the ability to touch many lives. She will be very much missed.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Oxbow Lake Baptist Church, 10730 Elizabeth Lake Road. The family will receive friends Friday, July 8, 2022 from 3-8pm at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road and Saturday at church from 1:00pm until the time of the service at 2:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Commerce Memorial Cemetery.
