

Leo Eino Maki, 93, Loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away on March 4th, 2026. He is survived by his two daughters, Sheila (husband Michael) and Diane (husband Harold); one grandson, Austin; three granddaughters, Stephanie, Sheree, and Brittany; three great grandchildren, Jaiden, Jaxson and Shelise. Along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Leo was born June 2nd, 1932 to Eino and Eini Maki in Munising, Michigan. He was close and spoke and fondly of his parents, three brothers, and three sisters. He ran track at Munising High School and attended church.
He was married for 72 years to the love of his life, Beatrice, and together they raised two daughters and made a life together. Beatrice preceded Leo in death.
He joined the Marine Corp. when he was seventeen and was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal during the Korean War.
He was employed by Mobil Oil (ExxonMobil) for 35 years, a member of Commerce United Methodist Church and the VFW. He enjoyed being in the yard, mowing, working in the vegetable garden and working on their vehicles and going up-north and camping. You always knew where he was, just follow his whistling.
A visitation for Leo will be held on March 9th, 2026 from 1:00pm - 5:00pm at the Elton Black and Son Union Lake Chapel, 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake, Michigan 48386.
A funeral service will occur on March 10th, 2026 at 11:00am at Commerce United Methodist Church, 1155 N. Commerce Road, Commerce Township, Michigan 48382, with a 10:00am gathering hour before the service. Following the service a luncheon will be provided at Commerce United Methodist Church.
