

Mary Knight, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, at the age of 99 in Commerce Township, Michigan. Born in Detroit on July 20, 1926. The daughter of Italian immigrants. Mary's life was a testament to the enduring power of kindness and grace. She was the beloved wife of the late Milton Knight and a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Mary is a former resident of West Bloomfield Township. She resided on Green Lake for 52 years. Many memories were made at her home, which was the hub of family gatherings. Mary was active within her community and served as president of the Green Lake Women's Club from 1974 thru 1976.
Mary's love knew no bounds, and her family was the center of her world. She was the loving mother of Milton Jr., Joanie, Laura (Milan) Popovich, Victor (Annette), Rock (Doris), Mary Beth (Brian) Kelm, and Angela Mecca. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Carl, Greg (Meghan), Mike (Stephanie), Katy (Luke) Tappe, Elizabeth, Matthew, Vincenzo, Michelle (Austin) Skiles, Candace (Aaron) Castiglione, Leann, Dominic (Whitney), Allison, Renee, Thomas (Alison), Kristina (Austin) Spaulding, Isabella, and as a great-grandmother to Max, Owen, Reese, Sloane, Anabelle, Royal, Niagara, Savi, Francesca, Payton, Gio, Ava, Steele, Axel, and Savannah. Her brother, Harry Taddeo, will also hold dear the memory of his sister's gentle spirit.
Mary was a woman of faith and a committed Catholic, who lived her life as a testament to her beliefs. Her compassion extended well beyond her family, as she was an avid member of the Women of North Farmington, and her charitable efforts reached many. She also supported other various charities.
An accomplished bridge player and an enthusiastic traveler. At 91 Mary made what she referred to as the “trip of a lifetime” to Israel, Jordan, and the Holy land. Her final voyage was a Viking cruise to Turkey and Greece. Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for golfing, but her heart was truly in the home. Creating a warm and welcoming environment for her family and friends was Mary's art form, and she excelled in making everyone feel loved and cared for.
Her calm demeanor and collected nature were matched only by her grace and elegance, which she carried with her throughout her life. Mary was a pillar of strength for her family and friends, and her gentle guidance will be deeply missed.
Mary Knight lived a life marked by loving deeds and a generous heart. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on through the many lives she impacted.
As we bid farewell to Mary, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a journey completed with dignity and peace. Her memory will continue to be a guiding light for her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mary Knight will forever be remembered as a woman who truly made the world a better place.
Mary’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, located at 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake, Michigan 48386.
Mary will lie Instate from 10:00 AM until time of funeral Mass, 10:30 AM at St. William Parish, located at 531 Common Street, Walled Lake, Michigan 48390.
She will be laid to rest privately at All Saints Cemetery in Waterford, Michigan.
