Born on September 15, 1923, Mary Kathleen Gough started her long career of caring for life by training and working as a nurse before marrying John Emmet Rogers in 1946. She graduated from Immaculata High School 1942. She graduated in 1946 from St. Mary Memorial Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. They lived in Detroit until the family moved to Wayne, Michigan in 1949. While living there she served on the Altar Guild at St. Mary’s Church. The family moved to Detroit in 1965 and then moved to Milford Michigan in 1972. She attended Madonna College and obtained a two year associates degree in gerontology nursing in 1975. She was one of the cofounders of the local pregnancy helpline. She prayed regularly for an end to abortion. She continued to support pro-life activities throughout her life. She worked as a nurse in Milford at a nursing home in the 80s. Then Mary and her husband John moved to North Carolina in 1986 where she was a volunteer for hospice. They returned to Michigan in 1996. She served as a hospital visitor at Huron Valley Hospital. She provided funeral help at St. Patrick’s Church in White Lake. In 2005, she married Joseph Clancy. Her love for life was seen in everything from her efforts in establishing the local Pregnancy Help Centers, to her gardening, her baking, and her absolute determination to live independently and properly to the end of her days. She passed away peacefully at home before midnight on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2018.

Proud grandmother of Christine Angel née Sinelli Sass, Andrew David Sinelli, Rachel Maureen née Simpson (William) Blackstone, Kathrine Rose née Simpson (James “Ryan”) Richards, Nicholas “Nick” Anthony Simpson, Anna Kathleen Sansonetti, Sarah Marie née Rogers (Jon) Imbrunone, Bridget Therese née Rice (Russell) Ferqueron, Julian Angelo Lizzio, Daniel Vincent Lizzio, Nathan Michael Lizzio, Emily Grace Lizzion, Samuel Henry Lizzio, Anthony Thomas Lizzio, Matthew Dominic Lizzio, Michael Gabriel Lizzio, David Gene Silber-Baker, Aracelle Rose Vivenza, Louisa Milagres Vivenza, and Cirilio Emmet Vivenza. Treasured great-grandmother of Hawkins Rogers Blackstone, Henry James Richards, Violet Anne Richards, Caleb Matthew Gianola, Ella Ann Imbrunone, and Abbey Elizabeth Imbrunone. Preceded in death by her first husband John Emmet Rogers in 2002.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake. Funeral visitation will be on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 12:30pm until the time of the funeral mass at 1:00pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins Road, White Lake. Burial will take place after the funeral mass at 3:00pm at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 25800 W. Ten Mile Road, Southfield. Following the burial, there will be a luncheon at Meriwether’s, 25485 Telegraph Rd, Southfield. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to assorted pro-life groups.
