Mary graduated from Livonia Franklin High School and later pursued her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance at Walsh College, a testament to her dedication to education even amidst the joys and challenges of raising her sons.
In 1981, Mary embarked on a journey of love and companionship when she married Ronald Szydzik. Together, they shared life's highs and lows until Ronald's passing in 1999.
Mary was a beacon of warmth and sociability, drawing people to her with her infectious smile and welcoming nature. She thrived in the company of friends, often assuming the role of the life of the party. She delighted in hosting pool parties and creating memories with loved ones. In their school days, Mary cheered enthusiastically from the sidelines at her sons' hockey games, rarely missing a match. Mary found solace and excitement in the great outdoors, particularly during trips to northern Michigan, where she reveled in the thrill of four-wheeling adventures. She also enjoyed watching football games with her siblings, and gardening both flowers and vegetables.
Professionally, Mary found fulfillment in a career in sales, where her charismatic personality and genuine enthusiasm endeared her to colleagues and clients alike.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Lorne and Shirley McKay, and her beloved husband, Ronald. She is survived by her children, Jason (Shannon) Szydzik and Jeremy (Samantha) Szydzik, her cherished grandchildren, and her siblings Suzanne (Todd) Schultz, Kathy (Ted) Said, Robert (Patti) McKay, Bryan McKay, and Daniel (Tracy) McKay.
