Born on June 3, 1928, in Davenport, Nebraska, Faye was the first of thirteen children to be born to Earl and Ione Schweitzer. She was married to Herbert Burns on February 3, 1950.
Faye’s life was epitomized by her love for her husband, daughter, and grandchildren. She showcased what it meant to kind, selfless, comforting, and joyous. She was at her happiest when her grandchildren would come over for dinner. Her favorite pastimes included crocheting, cooking, puzzles, reading the local paper, watching Food Network and Hallmark, and following her favorite sports, drivers, and teams.
Faye’s optimism and excitement towards each day was as radiant as the sun. Doctors, nurses, and caregivers would frequently exclaim that she is the highlight of their day, their adopted grandmother, and the reason for their smile. She had such a pure and innocent outlook of the world around her that could not help but make you smile. There was no more comforting place in the world than in her arms.
She is preceded in her death by her husband Herbert, parents Earl and Ione, grandparents Samuel and Fannie Schweitzer, Clarence and Clara Bittinger, sisters Lila Sander, Donna Sander, and JoAnn Hutchison, brothers Harold, Gerald, Bob, and Terry Schweitzer.
She is survived by her daughter Susan, grandchildren Jeff, Joe, and Allison Drake, sisters Karen Ul and Bernice Roberts, and brothers Samuel, Jim, and Roy Schweitzer.
A private funeral service will be held at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home. A burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, in Waterford, where she will be reunited with her husband, Herbert, once again. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider praying the Rosary in Faye’s memory.
