Oliver James Boss, age 89 of Commerce Township, Michigan passed away March 1, 2017. Cherished husband of Elizabeth (McDevitt) for 64 years. Loving father of Evelyn, Nancy, Matthew, Gretchen (Mark Stern), Mary Lynne (Bob Boonenberg), Karen (Dan Doman), Michael (Theresa), Michelle (Bill Peregord) and Jennifer (Skip Inman). He is survived by 11 grandchildren, 2 & ½ great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was born on Halloween, October 31, 1927, the 5th child and only son of Margaret Boss (Reckinger) and Anthony Michael Boss. He was a graduate of Dearborn High School class of 1946 and served in the Army as a private first class at the end of World War II. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from The Detroit Institute of Technology and worked as a senior auditor for Detroit Edison, retiring after 40 years. He was an avid gardener, a lover of art and music, and had a great sense of humor – all of which he passed on to his children. A true gentleman, he saw the best in everyone, and although he had many medical struggles, he always chose to view life through rose colored glasses. He was greatly loved and will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Taylor Conservatory and Botanical Gardens (www.taylorconservatory.org). A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 11 at The Sheraton Novi Hotel at 21111 Haggerty Road, Novi, MI. The family will begin receiving family and friends at 1 pm with a brief ceremony at 3 pm followed by dinner.
