Parvin Masters Russell Jr.

Parvin M. Russell, Jr, age 89, of West Bloomfield, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Sally; his four sons: Jim (Mary) (West Chester, Pennsylvania), Rick (Elise) (Hackettstown, New Jersey), Scott (Mendie) (Royal Oak, Michigan), Matt and Karyll (Rockford, Michigan); his beloved grandchildren, Peggy and Anthony Pinto, Thomas, Patrick, Anna, Elizabeth Sophie, Katie, Ellie, Karys and Jocelyn; his great-granddaughter, Mary Pinto; and of course his dog Sweetpea.

Parvin was born on June 29, 1933, in East Orange, New Jersey. He was a scholarly man and graduated from the Westtown School, Deep Springs College, Stevens Institute of Technology, Duke University and completed his Master’s degree at The Chrysler Institute of Engineering. Parvin was a Mechanical Engineer and worked for Chrysler for 35 years. He was also a religious man who was raised in the Quaker tradition, and was a member of Orchard Lake Presbyterian Church in Michigan and Grace United Methodist Church in Florida.

He met his beloved wife Sally at the Young Adult Group at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. He loved nothing more than spending time with his sons, family and friends. He was an avid reader and loved music! Parvin was a choir member at his churches in Michigan and Florida for over 60 years. He loved the beach and walking his dogs. He greeted everyone he met with a smile and a kind word. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed.

Parvin was preceded in death by his parents, Parvin, Sr., and Isabel; his older brother, Jim; and his sister, Jeanne.

Even after the briefest encounter, Parvin always left you feeling better about yourself. In his memory, take time to greet people, share a kind word and a compliment.

In accordance with Parvin’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Orchard Lake Community Church, Presbyterian, 5171 Commerce Road, Orchard Lake, Michigan 48324. Parvin's family will receive visitors at church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. All are welcome to join his family in celebrating Parv.
