Peter Sam Maisano, Jr., a man whose life was as rich and vibrant as his Italian heritage, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, in Clinton Township, MI. Born on August 3, 1950, in Detroit, MI, Peter's zest for life and his warm, engaging personality left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Peter's love story with his wife, Josie, was one for the ages, and together they shared countless adventures, most notably on the tranquil waters of Lake St. Clair aboard their beloved boat for 30 years. Their fur baby, Mieko, was always by their side, completing their happy family. Peter's legacy will also live on through his devoted children, Lynmarie (Ryan) Salata and Peter (Danielle) Maisano, who will forever remember their father's courage, friendliness, and boundless love.
He was a cherished brother to Francie (Donald) Christopherson, Stephanie Ferlicki, and brother Frank (deceased) who grew up sharing in the lively Maisano family traditions. Peter's magnetic personality extended to his role as a fun-loving uncle to his nieces Christine and Marie as well as his nephews Donald Jr. and Ryan. His five grandchildren—Isabella, Emma, Noah, Lily, and Stella—will always hold dear their grandfather's stories and the laughter that seemed to follow him wherever he went.
Peter's friendships were lifelong and loyal, exemplified by his close bond with his lifelong friend, and GodFather to his Children, Mark DiMaso. Together, they navigated both the still and choppy waters of life, proving that true friendship is a treasure that withstands the test of time.
A true water enthusiast, Peter found solace and joy in the embrace of the lake, where he felt most at home. His Italian roots were not only evident in his love for food and family gatherings but also in the passion with which he approached every aspect of his life. Peter's presence was a comforting constant, much like the quote from the great Roman philosopher Seneca, "Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness."
Peter's kindness was indeed his guiding principle. His courageous spirit, friendly demeanor, and loving nature were the hallmarks of his character. His presence could light up a room, and his laughter was infectious. He approached each day with an unwavering optimism and an open heart, ready to offer support or share in a moment of joy.
The legacy Peter leaves behind is one of love, family, and the importance of cherishing every moment. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to inspire and comfort those who had the privilege of knowing him. Peter Sam Maisano, Jr. was not just a man who lived; he was a man who loved, and in that love, he found the true meaning of life.
As we bid farewell to Peter, we take comfort in knowing that his story does not end here, for the love he gave will ripple through the generations, and his spirit will always be felt in the gentle lapping of the waves against the hull of a boat, in the laughter of his grandchildren, and in the quiet moments we share with loved ones. Peter's journey on this earth has concluded, but the voyage he charted in our hearts sails on forever.
Peter's family will receive friends for a memorial gathering on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 11:30 AM until time of Memorial Mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church located at 21620 Greater Mack Avenue, St. Clair Shores, MI 48081.
