

Phyllis was born October 1, 1932, in Cassville, Wisconsin, to her late parents, Albert and Helen Blum. In 1959, she married her late husband, Thomas Hunt, and together they had three children. Phyllis graduated from Cassville High School in 1950 and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, earning a teaching certificate in 1953 and a Bachelor's degree in Education in 1956. Phyllis taught in many schools in her career. Phyllis eventually left teaching to focus on raising her family, later joining Jackson Public Schools' Food Service, where she retired in 1992. An avid reader and life-long learner, Phyllis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Diana (Joe) Tyrrell and Gloria (Andy) McIntyre; son, Douglas (Barb) Hunt; grandchildren, Patrick (Jessica) Tyrrell, Emily Tyrrell, Sean McIntyre, Claire (Neil) Donetti, and Nicole (Riley) Ochs; great-grandchildren, Rowan and Sawyer Ochs; and many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her 8 siblings, Nellie Curtis, Glen, Stanley, Russell, Rex, Dale, Alva, and M. Paul "Pete".
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to support Brad's Lunch Bunch or Arbor Day Foundation.
Brad's Lunch Bunch, a group founded in 2008 to support local food pantries in Jackson, MI. To date, Lunch Bunch has raised nearly $1.1 million, Phyllis had been a faithful member of this organization since the beginning. This month they are supporting the Fresh Food Giveaway at First United Methodist Church in Jackson, a program dedicated to providing fresh produce to those in need.

This month they are supporting the Tuesday Lunch Program operated by First Congregational Church in downtown Jackson. Each week, church members give a free lunch to all comers. They served more than 14,000 lunches last year.
