

Rhoberta G. Shoger, age 98, passed away August 24, 2012. Rhoberta was born April 3, 1914 in rural western DuPage County, Illinois. She is survived by her son Vance (Barbara) Shoger and grandsons Owen (Wilhelmina) Shoger of Darien, IL and Adam Shoger of Chicago, IL. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Ann Shoger of Naperville and nine nieces and nephews. Rhoberta was born on a 160 acre farm located between Naperville and Aurora, IL and lived there until moving to Aurora in 1924 where she graduated from Aurora East H.S. in 1931. She graduated from Aurora University in 1935 with a B.S. Degree in Mathematics. Upon graduation, Rhoberta worked as a credit manager for Montgomery Ward in Aurora. She married Darwin C. Shoger of Naperville on February 4, 1937. During the ensuing years she worked alongside Darwin as they opened, operated, and sold several dry cleaning plants located in Naperville, Wheaton, and Downers Grove. Shogers Cleaners in Downers Grove was the first drive-in cleaners with on-site parking available at a downtown location. She was a resident of Downers Grove and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Downers Grove for 50 years. Rhoberta had been living near family in Michigan since 2002.
