I worked with Dick at Chrysler working on emission controls.  He was easy to work with and even when we disagreed on a solution to a problem the debate was always taken and given with respect.  I was fortunate to know him.

Dick never failed to handle any situation with grace, be it a difficult moment at the bridge table or an awkward life circumstance.  We would all be a bit better for the effort if we strove to emulate his attitude; he will be sorely missed.

I am sorry to hear of the death of this gentle giant.  I had the privilege of playing as his bridge partner one time and learned so much from the experience.  When ever he came to the table he had a smile and a willingness to answer questions, but only after he had played the hand like a shark. My thoughts and prayers are with you, his family, as you now come to the table with an empty chair.

My dad Jim Goodwillie and Dick were cousins and I have many fond memories of his parents and the parties at their home. My symathy goes out to your family at this sad time.

I knew Dick from Treasure Hunting during our time in Michigan.  Not only was he an amazing puzzle solver, he was a very sweet man.  He patiently helped our team on many occasions and delighted in our small successes.  He had a wonderful smile and a great sense of humor. His passing will leave a very big hole in the universe.  My deepest condolences go to his family and close friends.

I've known Dick for many years from the bridge club.  At one time he gave a group of us some pointers just to be nice.  He was a great player but an even nicer person. My condolences to your family.  He will be missed at the club.
