Ronald "Ron" Charles Shooks

May 23, 1949May 15, 2020

Ronald Charles Shooks, 70, passed away peacefully at home on May 15. He became an inspiration on how to ‘live life to its fullest’ after being diagnosed with prostate cancer 12 years ago. Ron was born May 23, 1949 to William and Martha (Dost) Shooks of Hillman, Michigan. He retired from GM after 38 years of service. Ron was well known throughout the bowling community and bowled in leagues at most of the bowling centers in the area. Ron loved spending time with his family and many friends. Loving husband to Kimberley (Whitener) Shooks of 48 years; dear father of Angela (Greg) Coventry and Jeremy (Brandy) Shooks; proud grandfather of Sienna and Brielle Coventry, and Riley Shooks; brother of Frank Stone, Rosemary Pernie, Clara Brandenburg and Frances Milk. Reunited with his parents, and brothers, Donald and Michael, in Heaven. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

We have no favorite memories....there are so many. Ronald had the warmth and caring of his mom, Aunt Martha and the "visiting nature" of his dad, Uncle Bill. Ronald loved each and everyone in his family, both immediate and extended. Larry and I along with our kids had grown to love our "alone time" with Ronald every summer for the past few years in Alpena. Golfing with the guys, dinner with Larry and I, the Band Shell, etc. Ronald will be forever missed. He had the most incredible outlook on living life to the fullest. I just received something from a family member, "We're not here for a long time, but we are here for a good time". How true that is. Love you, Ronald. Our prayers for strength for your family. You have left a huge void that will never be filled by anyone....what a legacy....

Ron, great great friend, thanks for all the help to make me a bowler.
Our friendship was as close as two guys could get. You'll always be the 4th in our Foursome.

Ron was my hero. He helped me out with all his collections at the Brush Creek Mill. He would bring cookie jars, games, toy guns, old costumes etc. He not only loaned them to me he also helped me display them. The guest that came to the Mill to see them loved them. I followed him on facebook all the times he went to watch the bands play. He loved people, life and his family. Now he can rest in Heaven and talk everyones ears off. He tells great stories. My husband George loved Ron. They had some great talks. We will miss Ron a lot. God Bless!
