

Born in Centralia, IL to Lester and Olive Devor, Roy's life was marked by dedication, faith, and a zest for discovery.
Roy's distinguished career in the Air Force was a testament to his commitment and service. On June 9, 1970, he married Cherilyn Lee Tolman at Vandenburg Air Force Base, a union that was a cornerstone of his life.Together, they shared a loving partnership until her passing.
A devout member of the White Lake Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Roy was deeply involved in his faith. His passion for genealogy led him to serve a mission focused on discovering family history. His dedication to this pursuit allowed him to trace his own lineage back 20 generations, a testament to his meticulous research and love for his heritage.
Roy had a diverse range of interests. He was an avid woodworker, a skilled stone polisher, and found joy in working on his farm. Later in life, he discovered a new passion for golf and developed an appreciation for sushi, much to the delight of his family. Roy enjoyed exploring new culinary experiences, often accompanied by his grandson Sean, who introduced him to a variety of new and exciting restaurants every other week.
Roy cherished his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He was especially fond of his grandchildren and delighted in spending time with his great-grandchildren, Connor and Joey. His warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Along with his beloved late wife Cherilyn and parents Lester and Olive, Roy is preceded in death by his daughter Missy Devor, granddaughter Chelsea Blair, and siblings Paul Allen Devor, Harold Dee Devor, and Dorothy Devor.
He is survived by his children Roy Lee Devor Jr, Mylerrie Anne (Alvin Macterial) Young, Michael Peter (Rose-Marie) Devor, and Daniel Nolan Devor; grandchildren Jana Bondy, Randy Bondy, Matthew Devor, Sean Devor, Marilyn Devor, Sarah Lane, Danielle Renee Barber, Samantha Miller, and Rachelle Lynne Darnell; 15 great-grandchildren; and siblings David Devor and Peggy Devor.
A memorial service for Roy will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 5:00 PM with light supper to follow at the White Lake Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 5464 Waterford Rd, Clarkston, MI 48346.
Roy Lee Devor will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
