Steve was born and raised in Detroit with his siblings and graduated from Cody High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged with a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He earned his college degree from Oakland University and worked at Ford Motor Company as a data network engineer until his retirement.
Steve loved his family and his longtime friends. He was a caring and loving grandfather to his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and had many of his best memories with family and friends on trips around the world. He was very humble and enjoyed helping others. He was very proud of his family and his love of music was passed on to his son, Dean, who he loved to see perform. He will always be remembered for his friendliness, charm and humor to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Beloved husband of Erasmia Novotny. Loving father of Angela (Stelios) Katzakis, Stephanie Novotny, and Constantine Novotny. Proud grandfather of Erasmia, Spiros, and Konstantinos Katzakis. Dear brother of James (Katie) Novotny and Barbara (the late Jack) Williams. Loving uncle of Kenneth Novotny, Kirsten Novotny, Karen (Richard) McLennan, Jeffrey (Susie) Williams, Jack Michael (Karen) Williams, and Jill (John) Pelkey. Dear brother-in-law of Helen (Gregory) Ranney.
A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 am (Visitation with Family 10:00 am) on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4300 Walnut Lake Road, West Bloomfield.
