Wanda Jean Hartmann, age 86, a resident of West Bloomfield Twp. for over 51 years, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. She was born on January 8, 1935 in Cleveland, AR to Clyde and Pearl Halbrook. Beloved wife of the late Kurt for almost 60 years; devoted mother of Doris (Daniel) Anderson, Kurt (Cindi) Hartmann and the late Duane Hartmann. Loving Grammy of Carly Anderson, Cara and Cami Hartmann. Dear sister of the late Dean Zimmerman and the late Betty Gottsponer. She was a proud aunt to many wonderful nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

After high school graduation, Jean headed north to Michigan where she worked for the FBI in the Detroit office. Within a few years, she met Kurt. They were married in 1960 and a few years later, left the city and moved the family north to Green Lake in W. Bloomfield Twp. Kurt and Jean owned and operated K & J Catering Co. She also worked as a nursing assistant for a few years while raising the family & enjoying life on the lake especially fishing. She was a very good cook who also enjoyed baking and was known for generously giving away her cakes to those who felt very fortunate to receive them! Jean enjoyed meeting people and never met a stranger. She and Kurt were devoted fans of both the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Pistons and loved to attend games. They loved their dogs who were a huge part of the family through the years! They were blessed to enjoy twenty five years of retirement together with many vacations and that started Jean’s love for traveling.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Kurt by only eighteen months and that was the start of a long one & a half years without him and stay-at-home orders due to a pandemic. Jean was a very devoted wife, proud mother and grandmother. Services will be private for family-only at her request. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. A Celebration of Life, Memorial mass will be held next Spring in honor of both Kurt and Jean and all will be welcome at that time. Jean has been our neighbor for over 40 years. We will miss her. She and Kurt attended our Daughter's wedding and Doris babysat for our children Byron and Laura. Jean and I shared some interesting conversations over the years and Jean kept me posted on neighborhood news. Our street has lost a special friend both in her and Kurt. Namaste my friends

Our sincere condolences to Jeans family. We met your parents the day we moved in next door seven years ago. We've enjoyed visiting with Jean over the years. She was always out checking on the yard so she could see the kids and say hi. We will certainly miss chatting with her. You are all in our thoughts and prayers
