Wilma J. Kosmalski passed away on April 27, 2026, after a long, beautiful life filled with family and friends, love, adventure, travel, good books and wonderful pets. She was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Stan, in 2008. She is survived by her children, Mark (Susan), Sue, (Frank), Steve (Debbie), Joe (Kate), Mary (Jeff) and Matt (Julie). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren who adored their grandma. Marilyn, Frank, Nick, Anthony, Danny, Kari, Jeffrey, Matthew, Max and Stephanie, will cherish the memories they shared with their Gram, whether those memories involved time spent on Union Lake, in beautiful Northern Michigan, the condo in Florida, or travel to various places near and far. Wilma also had 7 great grandchildren who were the happy and lucky recipients of her doting affection. Jewelissa, Jack, Charlotte, Molly, Madilyn, Joseph and Grant will miss Great Gram and her warmth and laughter.
Wilma lived a remarkable life. She came from extremely humble beginnings but through hard work and sheer force of will and determination, she and Stan started a business that supplied prototype model services to the domestic auto industry. The business, Model-Matic, Inc., was incorporated in 1968 and grew into a successful enterprise that afforded them a comfortable life. For Wilma and Stan, they had achieved the American dream.
This allowed them, especially Wilma, to follow her dreams of travel to all ends of the globe. She traveled to over 30 countries, most recently to the Middle East with her dear friend Judy Roberts. She loved cruises and her children and grandchildren were often the beneficiaries of this passion. She had an insatiable curiosity about other countries and cultures. This led her to China, Russia, Lapland, Eastern and Western Europe, and the British Isles, to name a few destinations.
In addition to her love of travel, Wilma enjoyed good books (the thicker the better), the theater, fine dining and good wine. But mostly she relished time spent with family and friends and her dogs. Her family will miss her deeply but is grateful for the precious memories they have.
Family and friends will gather at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 9068 Hutchins Road, White Lake, Michigan 48386 on Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Mass 11:00 AM with Father Socorro Fernandes officiating.
If you would like to honor Wilma’s memory, please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, The Leader Dogs of the Blind or your own preferred charity.
