Barbara Ann Reynolds

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Winston Robinson; daughter, Vicky Newman; and second husband, John Reynolds.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Helen Hutchinson; daughter, Debbie Mullen; granddaughter/daughter, Rebecca Porter; grandson, Joshua Mullen; granddaughters, Katie King and Natalie Wintz; great-grandchildren, Jonathon Porter, Ashley Porter, Tiffany Porter, Tori Porter, Ethan Mullen, Felicity King, Melody Forck, Alivia Forck, James King and Isaiah King; and great-great-grandchildren, Mia and Amelia.

Barbara was a shining example of unwavering faith in God, full of joy and gratitude for each new day. She brought laughter and love to everyone she met, even in her final hours. She died fearlessly and peacefully, surrounded by those who loved her.

Eulogy:

Barbara Ann Reynolds was born to Roy and Kathryn Meyers on November 20, 1933 in Fort Scott, Kansas. She had one sister, Helen. She graduated from Fort Scott High School and she attended Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas. She eloped to New Mexico and married her high school sweetheart, Winston Robinson. They then moved to Denver, Colorado where she gave birth to daughter Debbie in 1954, and daughter Vicky in 1956. Sadly, Winston was diagnosed with cancer. Barbara went to work as a secretary, all while managing care for her sick husband and their two daughters. Winston passed away in 1961. Barbara moved back to Fort Scott with her daughters, where she worked as a secretary at First Baptist Church. She later met and married John Reynolds and moved to Wichita, Kansas, where they raised her daughters. Her daughters later married and had children of their own. Vicky had a daughter, Rebecca. Debbie had a son and two daughters - Josh, Katie and Natalie. When Vicky suddenly passed away, Barbara became a second mom to Rebecca and raised her. Rebecca married and had four children - Ashley, Jonathon, Tiffany and Tori.

Barbara was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even two great great grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy and she had an active part in her grandchildren’s upbringing. She attended Meridian Avenue Baptist Church, was active in PTA, EHU, a bowling league, and numerous other church activities. She loved her neighbors and had many dear friends, always helping others. She collected teapots and was featured in the local newspaper with her collection! She was a gifted seamstress and made both of her daughters’ wedding gowns.

After her husband John died, she moved to Riverfront Apartments where she lived the rest of her life, almost 20 years. She enjoyed so many beautiful friendships there and was beloved by all. As she grew older, her faith grew and she became involved in numerous bible studies and opened her apartment to all those who needed a “mom”. She had a feisty child-like personality, and loved her Lord with all of her heart. She radiated joy, love and acceptance to all she met, always giving and putting others before herself. She met all the sorrows in her life with courage, and an unwavering faith. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her favorite phrase was “This is the day the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it”. Even in her final hours, she was spreading love and laughter to her nurses, doctors, family and friends.

Her legacy is LOVE.
