Billy was born on December 27, 1948, to Clarence and Darlene
Shifflett in Warrenton, VA. Billy lived a life marked by
strength, kindness, and quiet determination. He was known for
his steady presence, warm heart, and the deep care he showed
to family and friends. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing
a story, or simply spending time with those he loved, Billy
made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know
him. Throughout his life, he valued hard work, integrity, and
loyalty. He cherished time spent with family, found joy in
simple pleasures, and built relationships that stood the test of
time. His laughter, wisdom, and unwavering support will be
deeply missed. Billy leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience
that will continue to inspire those who carry his memory
forward.
Billy William Shifflett proudly joined the United States Marine
Corps on January 3, 1967, serving his country during the
Vietnam War. His time in the Marines was a source of great
pride, and he carried the values of honor, courage, and
commitment with him throughout his life. He was honorably
discharged on March 18, 1968.
In January 1968, while visiting the USO in Washington, D.C.,
Billy met the love of his life, Margaret. Their meeting was the
beginning of a beautiful love story that would last a lifetime.
Billy and Margaret were married on November 9, 1968, and
shared 57 devoted years of marriage filled with love,
partnership, and unwavering commitment to one another.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and
one sister.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; three sisters; his
son, Tim, and daughter-in-law; two grandchildren, and one
great-grandson, along with his 2 beloved beagles, Boo and
Bebe. He also leaves behind extended family and dear friends
who will cherish his memory forever.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Hillside Funeral Home West, 2929 West 13th Street North, Wichita, KS 67203. A graveside service will be held on Thursday February 26, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Lakeview Cemetery, located at 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita, KS 67206.
