

Constance Lee Uphaus (Connie) passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 80. She was born on October 2, 1945, in Pittsburg, Kansas, to Robert and Waymith Lance. She was predeceased by her siblings Richard Lance and Carol Estes.
Connie became a court reporter in 1969 and worked in that profession for over 40 years. She was very active in the Kansas Court Reporters Association. She filled many roles in that organization and participated in many other activities promoting the court reporting profession throughout her career.
Connie gave birth to her daughter, Mary Castaneda, in 1968.
Connie married Larry Goodner in 1975. They were married until his death.
Connie then married John Uphaus in 1989. They were married until his death in 2019. Through that marriage, Connie gained another daughter, Lisa Uphaus. Connie and John loved traveling and took many, many wonderful trips over the years. They especially loved traveling with their daughters, Lisa and Mary, and their families.
Connie was a member of West Heights United Methodist Church for over 30 years, where she sang in the choir.
Connie met her dear friend Gene Bowers in 2021, with whom she enjoyed spending time and doing a variety of activities.
Connie’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed attending their sports and musical activities and watching them achieve various milestones in their lives.
Connie is survived by her daughters, Mary Castaneda and husband Robert Clark, Lisa Fanning and husband Mike; her grandchildren, Jessica Wilkinson, Alyssa Dunn, Noah Fanning, Mark Fanning, Alyssa Fanning; her great-grandchildren, Julianna Wilkinson, Kaydennce Hummer, Trinnity Hummer, Lilly Golden, Quinn Dunn; and dear friend Gene Bowers.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on November 21, 2025, at 10:00 am. The service will take place at West Heights United Methodist Church, located at 745 N. Westlink Ave., Wichita, KS, 67212.
