There was a moment in my late elementary or early middle school years, where David and I got on the handicap shopping carts at Wal-Mart and drove around the store. It got to where a Wal-Mart employee stopped us and asked if we had any injuries to be using them. On the spot, I told her that we injured our foot. We were fine though.

There was an evening in my middle school years where my brother and I were running from my grandmother's house to my dad's house. I saw David go around this pole and I didn't understand why at the time so I just kept moving forward. Turns out, there was a metallic clothesline there and I literally got clotheslined by a clothesline. My brother helped me up and we continued on the path.

There was another night in middle school that I remember well. One of his friends was sleeping over. Now, David and I shared a room. We had a bunk bed: me on top, and him on the bottom. On that night, he and his friend were watching a Gabriel Iglesias show. At some point, both of them passed out and left it running. I was still awake, and I couldn't go to sleep with it still playing. So, instead of going down from my bunk to stop it-- I was pretty lazy and tired-- I decided to let it play out. I listened to every remaining second. I thought I would make a great story in the future.

In my family, it'd be my brother who understood me the most, and I who understood him. Even though he got criticized for some things in his life, I never thought less of him. A while after his decision to drop out, he told me he would get his GED, and I told him I would teach him everything I knew. I always told him I would open an auto-repair shop for him if I ever got rich. I would worry about the financials, and he'd be the lead mechanic.

We were like two pieces to a puzzle. Whatever I lacked in skill or knowledge, it is most likely that David possessed it. We were two completely different people, yet perfect complements. I will carry my brother's memory with me forever.

Our ride was just getting started but In that amount of time you taught me valuable things that I will forever hold..
You taught me there is still great people in this world but none that compares to you.. who would give his shirt off his back
You taught me to keep positive & to keep trying even if I felt I couldn’t do something
But most of all you taught me the value of a brothers time & you never had a problem spending it with me & Even tho our ride was short you will forever remain in my memories as one of the best brothers I’ve ever met
RIDE HIGH BROTHER

David, you were my best friend, then we got together and you became the love of my life. I know you and I were different as we got older but we balanced each other out. We have so many memories. I miss you. You will never be forgotten. You have always been there for me when I needed somebody. I remember our drives out to Kansas City and back. We always would laugh and have a great time. I keep waiting for a good morning text from you that I will never get again. I love you and I hope you know that. You will missed dearly by all the people you had on your life.

Bae Bae,
You will and will forever be our family, someone everyone looked up to. This is not what was supposed to happen. You had your whole life ahead of you. You are the one we all went to, the one we leaned on, the rock for our family. My heart is broken, my family’s heart is broken, and everyone that knew you, their hearts are broken. You will always be our guardian angel. Your spirt will always be alive in our house. Please watch over us and keep us safe. I will always miss your smile, your laugh, and that grin......that grin when you knew you were in trouble but tried to get out of it!! Forever and always, you will be David, Bae Bae, Big Foot, my children’s cousin, my nephew, our family!!!!! We love you and miss you horribly!!! It’s never goodbye, it’s just until we see you again.

David was always open and willing to help you no matter what. He was kind, respectful, and a joy to be around! There were many a time when he would help me carry heavy items into the house or into the back yard. My fondest memory was when I was selling my motorcycle cycle, but couldn’t get it to idle right. David took time out of his evening to help me tear apart the carbs, and got it running smooth. What a blessing. David, you were a blessing to many; you will be missed.
