David grew up in Kimberly, Alabama, where his childhood was filled with the thrill of gathering with friends and drag racing down the street. His adventurous spirit carried through his entire life.
As a proud Vietnam Veteran, he served in the United States Air Force and took great pride in serving his country. After his military service, David transitioned to the broadcasting industry where he thrived as a chief engineer. His career was a testament to his commitment and skill.
He shared 32 wonderful years of marriage with the mother of his children, Kay Rickels, and together they built a loving family with Kelly, Katie, David, and Kayce. His legacy continues through his ten grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy in his life.
David had a passion for tinkering and a love for fishing, often encouraging others with his favorite saying, "Shut up and fish!" Whether he was working on his race car or constructing a new project in the garage, his hands were never idle.
A man of deep faith, he was a dedicated member of the First Southern Baptist Church in El Dorado, Kansas. His generosity extended beyond his family to numerous charities, reflecting his deep commitment to helping others.
