

Dorothy Louise (Brown) (Barr) Watts, born March 11, 1924 in Bigelow, Arkansas, the fifth of 10 children (8 girls and 2 boys) to James Arthur and Sarah Sally Brown. She married Robert Lee Barr in November of 1940 and to them was born five children, Jimmy Lee, Betty Louise, Kenneth Leon, and twins, Robert Lee, Jr. and Roberta Leah. Mr. Barr passed away in November of 1965. In November of 1967, Dorothy married Frank Watts and they were in their 34th year of marriage at his passing in December of 2002. Her greatest love and interest was always for her family. She took great pride in being part of a large family and always looked forward to family reunions, holiday gathering, and cooking big meals. She was a retired Safeway and IGA grocery checker. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Velama Ross, Nellie Mize, Lina Thomas, Ernestine Slattery, and Pauline Smith; brother, William Dee Brown; and grandson, Angel Joseph Barr. Survivors include: sisters, Sue Vaughn, Anderson, IN, Betty Jane (Jackie) Ross; brother, Richard Lee Brown, all of Muskogee, OK: sons, Jimmy Lee (Charlotte) Barr, Kenneth Leon Barr, all of Wichita, Robert Lee Jr. (Janet) Barr, Mulvane; daughters, Betty Louise Hettinger, Wichita, and Roberta Leah (Lee) Humboldt, Derby; step-daughter, Phyllis Dall, Ozark, AR; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday; funeral service 1 p.m. Tuesday, both at Hillside Funeral Home, 2929 W. 13th Street, Wichita; burial will follow in Mulvane Cemetery, Mulvane. A memorial has been established with Good Shepherd Hospice, 439 N. McLean, Wichita, KS 67203.
