Dwayne E. Hobson, age 86, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Kansas Masonic Home, Wichita. Dwayne was born on June 8, 1932 in Hutchinson, Kansas the son of Duard E. and Juanita (Davis) Hobson. On September 14, 1953, he married Phyllis (Nestor) in Hutchinson, they were later blessed with a daughter, Cheryl. Dwayne is a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War on the USS New Jersey Battleship. After serving his country, Dwayne started his career as a letter carrier for USPS, where he later retired. Dwayne doted on his daughter, he attended her music concerts and contests, and attended all of her dance recitals when she was young. He and Phyllis also rebuilt a 1963 Triumph Spitfire convertible for Cheryl for her first car. Dwayne is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Clark, formerly of Nickerson. Survivors include: his wife of 65 years, Phyllis Hobson; daughter, Cheryl Hobson and spouse, Terri Fowler; granddaughter, Addison; and granddog, Zoey. Gathering with the family at Kansas Masonic Home Chapel, Thursday, January 10, 2019 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Private family inurnment will be at Resthaven Garden of Memory, Wichita.
