Jackie was born on November 24, 1935 to Z.D. Ward and Mary Jewell (Lorance) Ward in Wichita, KS. She was raised by her mother and maternal grandparents.
Jackie spent most of her life in Wichita. Over the years she worked as a housekeeper for many Wichita businesses. She retired from the KETCH filter workshop in 2007. She had a deep connection to her faith and church family at North Heights Christian Church. Jackie was the mother to five children, but because of difficult circumstances four of those children were placed for adoption. Although she was not a part of the lives of those four children, her legacy lives on in Danny, Jennifer, Merinda and Marilyn. With help from her mother, Jackie raised her son Eddie, to whom she was devoted.
Jackie was preceded in death by her father Z.D. Ward, mother Mary Lorance/Giacomella, aunts Gladys, Stella, Jessie and Ethel, uncles Dewey and Presley and grandparents Thomas and Celestine Lorance.
Jackie is survived by her sons Eddie Ward and Danny Bell, daughters Jennifer Bell, Merinda Anthony and Marilyn Ward and many grandchildren.
Jackie’s funeral service will be held at the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 12th, 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Titus James officiating. Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
