

James (Jim) Lewis Brown, 81, long time resident of Wichita, passed away on November 8, 2025. Jim was born February 18, 1944, the oldest child of Max and Iva (McDill) Brown. He graduated from Dodge City High School, Dodge City Community College, and Kansas State University. He was employed in bank data processing at Union National Bank, Data Center Inc, Fourth National Bank, and Bank of America, as well as Cessna Aircraft before retiring. He was a long-time member of Woodland United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for many years. He loved doing woodworking projects, and during his retirement years Jim enjoyed putting together over 500 jigsaw puzzles.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Max and Iva Brown. He is survived by his wife Janice (Stump) Brown, his sister Jo Ann Beezley of Pittsburg, his brother Max Jay Brown of Hutchinson and his nephew Eric Beezley (Ana) of Joplin, Missouri. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who enjoyed his great sense of humor and joking manner.
There will be no service. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Comfort Care Homes for the exceptional care, compassion and support they provided Jim during his final months. Memorials may be given to Kansas Humane Society or Woodland United Methodist Church.
