He was a shop teacher in Industrial Arts for 35 years at North High School for one year, then Valley Center High School. He had two degrees in education, and two masters. In the spirit of always learning and always teaching, he was on his way to his doctorate when he sadly had to stop. Jerry was involved in church, and used to mow the lawn for his church, Emmanuel Baptist Church in Marion, Kansas. When he moved to Brownwood, Texas, he was very much involved in Rocky Creek Baptist Church. He would volunteer in Good Samaritans, and was well known for always helping people. He would fix lawn mowers and golf carts on the side, and was also known for his carpentry skills in building houses. He had many friends, and the kids he taught from high school looked him up after he retired so they could play golf together. He was blessed with many good friends, and great churches, and had an unwavering faith in God.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruth; and stepdaughter, Heather Shaw.
He is survived by his amazing wife Marjorie Richardson; son, Tony (Shannon) Richardson, stepdaughter, Shannon Fitzpatrick; grandchildren, Katie (Zachary), Destiny, Colin (Tanya), Cody, and Caitlyn; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Jeff, June, Emila, and Henry; brother, Terry Richardson; nephews, Shannon and Shane Richardson; and a host of church friends who will miss him dearly.
