Marta Gates, 38, of Wichita, Kansas passed away Tuesday January 5, 2021 in Wichita. Marta was born on August 10, 1982 in Wichita, KS. Marta and Scott Gates were united in marriage on October 27, 2007 in Wichita. She worked for Ascension Health Care in Wichita. Marta enjoyed running and completed a half marathon. Her passion was dancing that she started at age five and continued throughout high school and college. Marta was known among her dancing friends as Mama Bear because she always took care of everyone. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Survivors include her loving husband; Scott Gates, II, daughters; Sydney and Sloan Gates, mother; Paula (Mike) Matson, father; Stephen (Teddi) Drane, mother and father-in-law; Scott and Kim Gates, grandfather and grandmother-in-law; Sue and Chris Hartman, sisters; Amanda (Brandon) Ermey, Susan (Roger) Xanders, Shelley (Eddie) Harvell, brother-in-law; Stephen and Skyler Gates and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm on Friday January 15, 2021. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday January 16, 2021 both at Hillside Funeral Home, 2929 W. 13th St. N., Wichita. Due to COVID restrictions of a 50 person limit we encourage watching online. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the family (all donations will be used for her daughters education).
