Nina M. Baker, passed away with her family surrounding her on August 19, 2026, at the age of 71. She was born on September 20, 1954, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of William and Alice G. (Loffland) Wenke.
Nina was a lifelong resident of the Wichita area and a proud graduate of West High School, Class of 1972. Following high school, she began working at Pizza Hut while attending Wichita Technical College. After graduation, she joined IV National Bank, where she began her professional career.
In 1988, Nina began her 22-year career in the aircraft industry with Boeing, where she worked as a Master Scheduler. She retired in 2010 after many years of dedicated service.
Nina was a member of Hope Christian Church. She enjoyed ceramics and had a special love for collecting Hallmark angels. She was also a proud member of the Hallmark Ornament Club and looked forward to giving her sons and grandchildren a new ornament each Christmas. Nina and her husband, Tim, also enjoyed participating together in a bowling league.
In 2005, Nina was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. True to her strong-willed and determined nature, she faced the challenges of the disease with courage and perseverance. She became a member of Rock Steady Boxing, a program specializing in exercise and training for people with Parkinson’s disease. Nina treasured the friendships she made there and enjoyed the encouragement and camaraderie of the trainers and fellow participants.
Nina will be remembered for her strength, determination, generous spirit, and the love she shared with her family. Her traditions, especially those surrounding Christmas and her beloved Hallmark ornaments, will remain cherished memories for her sons, grandchildren, and all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Caroline Jammes; brother, Jimmie Wenke.
Survivors include her husband, Tim, of the home; sons, Sean and wife, Monica Baker of Wichita, Bryce Baker and mother of their children, Rebecca Baker, both of Rose Hill; sister, Susan and husband, Larry Kennett of Olathe, Polly Loffland of Texas; grandchildren, Andrew, Alyssia, Celeste, Natalynn, Sean Jr., Lilliyana, Kaiden, Asher, Emrys, and Aerilyn; step granddaughter, Giselle; 3 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, with family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, both at Hillside Funeral Home West, 2929 W. 13th Street North, Wichita. Cremation will follow the service.
