Dick was born in Los Angeles, CA, on July 20, 1944. He attended schools there and then joined the Air Force in 1962, and spent his military time in Vietnam. Upon returning to the States, he entered the oil industry, working first in California and then in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. After his time in Prudhoe, he relocated to Anchorage, Alaska, where he worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs. In 1987, he left Alaska and settled in Wichita, Kansas, where he again worked for the VA.
Dick met Jesus at Asbury Church in 2010. His biggest enjoyment was volunteering at his church where he had the opportunity to meet and help people in any way he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stella and Al Ocampo; and brother, Ray.
He is survived by his significant other, Pat Ashton; daughter, Meiko O'Campo; sister, Barbie Kayen; grandson, Elijah; granddaughter, Johannah O'Campo; and two great-granddaughters, Indigo and Nyx.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 10:30 a.m., at Asbury Church, 2801 W. 15th St. N., Wichita, KS 67203.
