Robert Michael Foster known by most as Mike or Mikey was born in Wichita, Kansas to Robert Charles Foster and Norma Jean Foster (Shiblom). He graduated from Wichita North High School in 1970.
Mike was incredibly curious and confident, enjoyed exploring mechanical things, cooking, and performing with lead or bass guitar. He created many of his own guitars, speaker systems in search of the perfect sound. He enjoyed animals, raising racing pigeons as a teen and caring for dogs, a few strays along the way (a collie was a favorite) and darts. As a teen he loved swimming and played baseball inheriting the name “Pitcher with the green hair” spending so much time in the pool. He played in several bands, at the Cotillion and bars/venues throughout the area. He had his most success with the Cyrus Noble Whiskey River Band.
Right out of High School Mike started working for the City of Wichita. He then had a few other jobs but returned to the City of Wichita as Engineering Tech III and had his certification to do State & Federal project inspection. He was employed by the City of Wichita for 37 years. Mike was funny and liked to make others laugh, like putting a box on his head or a huge Christmas bow as unwrapping presents at Christmas time.
He is survived by his sister Teresa Arneson (Tony), Niece Karly Arneson (NYC), Nephew Sven Arneson (Missoula, MT) his brother Martin Foster (Palm Springs, CA), his previous wife Anna Rosa Foster and stepson John Rosa (Theresa). He was predeceased by his father, mother, and stepmother Kay Cotton Foster. A private cremation service has been arranged in accordance with his wishes.
In honor of his memory, contributions may be made to the Wichita Humane Society, reflecting his connection to causes close to his heart.
