Robert “Scott” Voran, age 64, passed on September 1, 2026. He is survived by his two sons Thomas (Breanna) Kautz, Tristan Voran and their mother Michele Kautz all of Wichita, Kansas, his mother Lois Strong of Wichita, Kansas, his siblings, Jeff (Steph) Voran of St. George, Utah, and TJ (Tiffany) Voran of Wichita, Kansas, Mike (Tyler) Downing of Wichita, Kansas, grandchildren Wyatt, Izzy, Lorenzo and Luca as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Eugene Voran and sister Janet Downing.
Scott was born on June 29, 1962 in Topeka, KS. His family moved to Wichita, KS where he attended school and ultimately graduated from Northwest High School.
Scott worked at the airport for over 38 years. During this time he made lifelong friends that were always there for him through the good and the bad parts of life. Jan Blosser, Ray Doneski, Duane Scherer and Bill Schauf. He loved their friendship so much.
Before the boys came into his life his favorite pastime was watching Nascar (Dale Earnhardt) and 81 Speedway racing (Powers team all the way!) as well as KU basketball, Steelers football and KC Royals baseball. Scott preferred the home life where the heat of the day and crowds weren’t present, he did not like the heat or crowds. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his mother Lois. He loved telling jokes to make people laugh and when he entered a room, you knew Scott was there by his tall stature and handsome smile that was full of life and lit up the room. That big smile was Scott’s signature.
Scott’s next biggest loves were his two sons. Any event they had, he was at cheering them on and boasting about his boys. He was the proudest father out there watching both boys play baseball throughout their youth, he never missed a game. He was also an avid reader of history novels and enjoyed a good book while sitting in his recliner which his son Tristan loves to do as well. Thomas and Scott loved to talk about sports and debate on who was going to become the best players that year while Tristan and Scott loved to battle each other on wits, politics and Jeopardy. When his boys became fathers themselves, Scott enjoyed giving them his “fatherly advice” of how to handle certain situations which usually ended up with him laughing at his own advice. Scott loved that he had the best of everything with his boys, they fulfilled every wish he had for having sons and also being a father to them and he knew he was blessed beyond measure. When the grandkids showed up, it was icing on the cake for him. He was such a proud father and grandfather. They meant everything to him.
Eagles became one of Scott’s undying loves early in life. He loved how majestic they were and was able to collect quite a few pictures and statues of them. Any photo of an eagle that he came across he would examine it and remember every detail, even down to the flow of the feathers or the uniqueness of their eyes. He would truly get excited about eagles.
Scott was a man of few words but when he spoke it was with meaning. His words, jokes, advice and even his silent times will be truly missed by all who knew him. A son, a brother, a father and a best friend. He brought everything to the table and we can’t wait to see you again one day. Keep watch over us, we’ll be looking up. In our hearts forever you will remain.
