Robert "Bob" Milton Wallace, 78, of Wichita, Kansas went into the arms of Jesus on February 12, 2025. He died peacefully after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on September 2, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas to Milton and Eva Wallace. They preceded him in death, as well as his first wife Charleene Merriam Wallace, and his sister Rayona Harvey. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Central Community Church Chapel, 6100 W. Maple St., Wichita, Kansas 67209. Visitation with the family will begin one hour before the service. The service will also be live-streamed and can be viewed at www.centralcommunitychurch/funerals for those who cannot attend. Bob was married to Joyce for 11 years. He has one daughter, Sara Garrett (Jason), their children: Dominick and Mickey. Bob also has one son, Wil Wallace (Brandy) and their children: Lori and Madison. He has a surviving sister, Jane Johns (Claude). He was close to his cousins Ann and Kenny Hicks, Steve Fowler and many more. He was also loved by Joyce's children, Greg Wood (Mona), Teresa Engelmann (Tom) and Tammy Glaves (Tom) and a host of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob loved garage sales and collecting toys, cars and action figures. Bob served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War. He worked at Cessna in maintenance for over 30 years until his retirement.
Bob and his loving wife Joyce loved to travel and went to the Holy Land and were baptized together in the Jordan River on their honeymoon after meeting at Good Grief Group one year earlier. They took many other trips during their 11 years of marriage and loved seeing new places and meeting new friends. Bob loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed serving as an usher at Central Community Church as his health allowed and always enjoyed the many meals and visits when he was not well enough to attend personally. Tammy and Tom Glaves took care of him the last week of his life and he greatly appreciated it. Bob always believed he could receive a healing miracle, but stated often that "If I am not healed, I will be in the arms of Jesus, and that's okay too."
Memorials may be given to Central Community Church, 6100 W. Maple Street, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
