Sondra Sue McKown

Sondra Sue, McKown 75, homemaker, loving wife, mother, and grandmother went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 8, 2013. Sondra, as she was known, was born in Neosho Falls, KS on May 18, 1938. She came to Wichita when she was 6 months old. After attending Wichita North High School she met and married Harold P McKown on June 10, 1955. They celebrated 58 years of marriage. Faith, family, and friends meant the world to her as they raised their four children and watched their six grandchildren grow. She and her husband enjoyed traveling with his brother and wife, James and Jackie McKown, her lifelong childhood friend. Preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki Sue McKown; parents, Charles Byfield and Dixie Byfield; and brother, Jackie Dean Byfield. Survived by her husband, Harold; children, Michael (Janice) McKown, Randall McKown, Sherry (Daniel) Dolezal, Shelly (David) Balleau; and grandchildren, Chad and Shawn McKown, Christopher, Jennifer, and Matthew Dolezal, and Victoria Balleau. Visitation 6-8p.m. Wednesday June 12, 2013. Funeral Service 10:00a.m., Thursday all at Hillside Funeral Home West. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers should be made to the American Cancer Society.
