I went to high school with Ginger -- Dr. Hawkey (her dad) was my mother's OB/GYN and delivered me.  Ginger was always a fun loving individual.  May she rest in peace

Ginger was always someone everyone could go to with help solving a problem.  She was knowledgeable, but most importantly, she was personable.  Everyone liked working with Ginger.  You are very lucky to have had that example in your life.

We were so close for so long, and though we grew apart when I moved from Wichita, she was someone I never forgot and always tried to connect with when possible.  She was a very special person who worked very hard, made the work place so much fun, cooked like a pro, and had such a green thumb. I lost contact with her after you were born but talked to her in the last 2 years when I was going thorough cancer treatments, thanks to her pledge mom Terri. Ginger was my best friend and the most important person in my life from age 5 through college.She was always there for me.  We could talk about anything and everything. She and Desmond were in my wedding. I lost contact after living in Costa Rica and moving around for 10 years. I have thought about her many times, and I am very sad she has passed.  I know she brought great pleasure to many people.  I never met you Emily, but Addis showed me pictures of you when we lived briefly in Newton in 1977.  Your mother was very intelligent and beautiful both inside and out.  She is greatly missed.  Terry McDonald

I knew Ginger for many years at Sedgwick County. I would talk to her every morning before work. She was a joy to know. She will truly be missed by alot of the people she worked with. She touched alot of lives. My prayers are with you Emily and your family at this sad time in your life.

Ginger and I were good friends in college and after.  We lost touch when I moved away from Kansas. I was so excited as she was when Emily was born. I have thought of her often over the years.  The news of her passing saddens me greatly and my prayers and sympathy go out to her family. Rest in peace my friend.

In every office there are people who are leaders by virtue of their position, and there are people -- often not the 'leaders' -- who make the place work.  Ginger was one of the latter.  It took me a while to figure it out, but Ginger got things done.  She wasn't one who made sure everyone knew her value to the organization, but rarely have I worked with anyone so valuable.  For months to come we're going to be figuring out all the things she did so well that we forgot they needed doing.

Ginger it just wasn't the same coming to work this morning and not seeing your smiling face.  After your smoke break in the morning you would always pass me in the lobby and ask if I was ready to go up stairs so I didn't have to ride the elevator alone.  We have 30+ years at the County together and during that time you made lots of friends. You were a wonderful lady. Even though you are no longer with us, we will keep your memory in our hearts.  And we find comfort knowing that you will be watching over us. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers, and may their memories comfort them during this time.  Gone but on forgotten.

Emily, my prayers go out to you and your family.  Thinking of you in this time of sorry.  Your mom was a wonderful Lady and you have that to live by.  I wish you all well.

I was so sad to hear about Ginger passing and I always knew the name but wasn't sure who she was but she knew me by name & would see her in the halls here at the Main Courthouse and she would say Hi and my name.  She was always so helpful also when I would have to call the Finance department.  She will be deeply missed by everyone.

Emily, my deepest sympathy to you and your family.  Ginger was a wonderful person who would always take the time to help with a problem or just say hello and chat for a minute.  She will be truly missed but never forgotten.

Ginger was always ready to lend an ear and help however she could, whether it was personal or professional. She and I shared a love of animals, especially our own. Dear Emily,  I am so sad that Ginger has left us.  It just seems like yesterday when I met her when she started at County Motor Pool some 32 yrs ago.  We became friends instantly because that how she was.  I was fortunate enough to see her this past June at a courthouse retirement.  We hugged and talked.  Who knew that would be the last time. I was so sorry to read of Ginger's passing.  We were in college and were Gamma Phi Beta sisters.  I remember her for her infectious laughter and great sense of humor.  Although we lost touch after college I remember her with affection.  My best to her family.

I worked with Ginger on many different projects over the years at Sedgwick County.  She was an absolute joy to work with!  I worked with Emily as well, when she worked in County Purchasing.  My prayers are with Emily and the rest of the family.  Your mama was a great lady!
