Elinor Kirkland Hite passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, September 26, 2026 with her beloved husband, Craig Morris, by her side. Elinor was born on September 28, 1942 in Abington, Pennsylvania and grew up in Haddonfield, New Jersey and Tulsa, Oklahoma. She earned her B.A., English, Psychology degrees from Denison University and Masters in Counseling, Psychology from Princeton Theological Seminary. Elinor was a Human Resources professional for the BP Amoco, Lee Hecht Harrison, Jenner & Block and YMCA. At the time of her death she was serving on the board of Lake Forest Presbyterian Homes. She was an Elder at First Presbyterian Church, Lake Forest.
Elinor was an inveterate reader who loved a good mystery and remained a lifelong learner—always seeking new knowledge, skills, and personal growth.
Elinor was predeceased by her parents Bryant and Bernice Kirkland. She is survived by Craig Morris, her son Juddson Hite and daughter-in-law Michelle Hite, her sisters Nancy Thompson and Virginia Stuart, her granddaughters Kaitlyn and Mia as well as several cousins, nephews and nieces.
The visitation will be at 3 PM and the service will be at 4 PM on Friday, October 2, at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Forest, IL.
