Shirley leaves behind her loving husband of over 59 years, Paul Jeffrey, her children Timothy (Julie) Jeffrey, Matthew (Cathleen) Jeffrey, Scott (Stephanie) Jeffrey, and Elisabeth Jeffrey and her cherished grandchildren, Alex Jeffrey, Megan (Taylor) Shaw, Ryan Jeffrey, Brynn Jeffrey, Kaden Osler, Ashley Osler and her great granddaughter Margot Shaw. She also leaves behind her sister Nancy Lersch, brother Ted Lersch and her brother-in-law Peter (Judy) Jeffrey. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Susan Lersch and her brother-in-law Perry Jeffrey.
Shirley was a longtime resident of Wilmette, with deep roots in the New Trier community. She was an avid Chicago sports fan and an enthusiastic supporter of all the sports her children and grandchildren participated in throughout the years. Shirley was a talented quilter and needle pointer, sharing her beautiful creations with family and friends. However, more than anything, she loved hosting family gatherings and was known for her beautiful, meticulously curated holiday decor. Shirley will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
A visitation will be held at Wm. H. Scott Funeral Home, 1100 Greenleaf Ave, Wilmette, IL on September 4, 2026, from 3:00 pm until time of service 7:00 pm. Internment is Private.
